Remember: a revolution is only as effective as its waste management! You will be judged by how clean you are and how clean you leave your protest sites.
-
Organize regular collection and sweeping.
-
Set up clearly-marked buckets for cigarette butts only around the perimeter and center of the camp.
-
Set up separate, well-marked bins for dry recyclables, compost and non-recyclable trash.
-
Make partnerships with local can collectors, recycling associations, Dept. of Sanitation, etc. to take the various materials.
-
Encourage your protestors to carry their own water bottles and other reusable containers to avoid unnecessary use and waste of plastic.
-
Be cognizant of how you dispose of water. Water containing chemicals should follow an avenue where it will be treated before returning to the water supply.
-
Move incrementally toward zero waste and 100% recycling.
